10.05.14 | Gesture Drawing for Animation (1 Day)

This Course Will Cover:

• Line – Action, Rhythm & Exaggeration
• Contrast – Straights & Curves
• Shape – Flexibility in a Pose

Gesture is about capturing the essence of an action or emotion. This workshop is designed to show participants the importance of gesture drawing in animation. The focus will be on the use of graphic principles to create dynamic drawings.

Participant Profile:

This workshop is aimed at individuals who currently work in animation or who are interested in becoming an animator. Participants should have some experience in life drawing.

Tutor Info:

Niall Laverty has worked in the animation industry for over 15 years in the U.S.A., Germany and Ireland. His credits include Anastasia, Titan A.E. and award-winning short, Hasan Everywhere. Niall has been teaching gesture drawing to animation students and professionals for over 10 years. Classes are based on his experience as a freelance animator and illustrator. He has taught at the Royal College of Art and is a regular tutor at Gobelins, Filmakademie and The Animation Workshop.
