22.09.18 | Character Performance, Acting, and Storytelling for Animation with Myrna Gawryn

Animation Skillnet with support from Screen Training Ireland are delighted to host a one day workshop in character performance for animation with Myrna Gawryn.

Course Content:

The globalization of the animation industry has erased borders, crossing culture, orientation and language.  Animators, worldwide, are tasked with producing an unprecedented standard of quality, and the ability to captivate and communicate, no matter what the culture or story being told.

Myrna works with animators and directors to develop physical behavior, performance, relationship to other characters, emotional context, and anatomical detail — all the components that make animation truly alive and specific. To this end, Myrna employs principles of movement, anatomy, gender, age, environmental elements, heightened moments (keyframing), creature and object characteristics, emotional condition, choices in expression, transitional movement, shape, weight, locomotion, breath, timing, rhythm and the involvement of text, props and choreography as they relate to animation.

By noticing the details of character, environment and relationship, and exploring and refining the physicality of these details in shot preparation, imagined situations, and team and one-on-one consultation, Myrna works with participants to develop advanced skills for creating truly powerful visual and physical storytelling.

Method:

Lecture/Discussion/Workshop/Lab/Exercises
