Course Content:

This course will focus on the following:

The Menu
A run through of the main menus in ZBrush – tools, sub tools, geometry, layers, the deform menu , poly groups etc.

Importing and Exporting Models
The do’s and don’ts of importing and exporting.
Fixing issues that may arise on importing a model.
The extra settings on importing and exporting.

Dynamesh
How to use Dynamesh with multiple models and single models.
Poly groups and Dynamesh.
Boolean operations with Dynamesh.

Sculpting Basics in ZBrush
Brushes.
Alphas.
Alpha creation.
Insert brush creation and settings.

Polypaint
Polypainting in ZBrush.
Masks.
Model painting techniques – ink wash effects, dry brush etc.
Using spot light.

Using the sub tool plugin and color plugin for different results.

Participant Profile:

This course is aimed at people who are modellers and texture artists in the games and film/animation industry. A basic understanding of 3D in either Maya or Max would be required as well as some basic familiarity with ZBrush.

Tutor Info:

Andrew Phelan has worked as a digital artist (using Photoshop, ZBrush and Maya) for over 20 years and started work in the industry as a sprite artist/animator and then moved on to be a 3D, environment and character artist. He has worked with companies like Sony, Dawn Patrol Games , Clockwork Fox and TRC.

5 Thursday Evenings from 6.30pm-9.30pm, Dates: 24th September, 1st October, 8th October, 15th October and 22nd October.
