On completion of the course, participants will be able to assess the story potential of an idea, develop an idea into a script, understand and analyse story structure, write effective scenes, format scripts correctly & collaborate constructively with writers, development executives, producers etc.

Participant Profile:

This course is aimed at Visual Creatives and Animation Professionals who wish to develop/write their own projects OR collaborate more effectively with writers. There is a strong practical element to this course, which will include writing exercises and opportunities for participants to workshop their own short projects (Films or TV pilots).

Tutor Info:

A graduate of the University of Southern California’s MFA in Writing for Screen and Television, Maria O’Loughlin has over 18 year’s industry experience as a screenwriter, producer and script editor/consultant. A specialist in writing for animation, she has worked with all the major Irish animation studios including Monster Entertainment, Kavaleer Productions, JAM Media and Brown Bag Films. Some recent credits include “I’m a Monster”, “I’m a Creepy Crawly” and the BAFTA-nominated 3rd Season of “Roy” for CBBC. In 2014, she worked as Staff Writer on “Henry Hugglemonster” for Brown Bag Films/Disney Junior and also completed an IFB-supported feature script entitled “Snack Hamster” with Norton Virgien (“Doc Mc Sutffins”, “Rugrats”) attached as Director. She is currently represented by the Gotham Group in Los Angeles.

Members: 90 Euro, Non Members: 110 Euro
