John Aoshima started directing on Fox’s Primetime animated series, American Dad!. From there, he focused his attention on younger audiences at Disney TV Animation. At Disney, John has taken various roles as Director, Post Director, Animation Supervisor, and as Storyboard artist on variety of shows. He has directed on Gravity Falls, Pickle & Peanut and currently the reboot of Ducktales. In 2014, John was nominated for an Annie in Outstanding Achievement in Directing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production for “Gravity Falls”. John’s education in animation started at the early age of 12 when an animation class opened at his local school. From there, he continued his focus in animation at his local high school where it was known for it’s animation program within the industry. In 2000, John earned his BFA in Character animation at the California Institute of the Arts, also known as CalArts. Aside from his career in TV animation, John worked on his first feature film at Laika, as the original Head of Story for the upcoming release “Kubo and the Two Strings”. In fact ‘Kubo’ was John’s nickname when he was younger.
