02.04.19 | Creating backgrounds for 2D animation (5 Tuesday Evenings)

Course Content:

  • Staging and composition at the layout stage
  • Reinforcing basic perspective
  • Photoshop techniques for creating backgrounds
  • Working from board to background on an animated production
  • Building a background portfolio and applying to studios

Participant profile: 

This course is aimed at students, recent graduates and anyone looking to get into backgrounds for animation.

Tutor info: 

Fran Johnston has worked in the animation industry for 14 years. Currently working as a concept designer he has also worked as a compositor and for the most part of his career, a background artist and supervisor.
His credits include, Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends and The Amazing World of Gumball for Cartoon Network, Randy Cunningham Ninth Grade Ninja and Wander Over Yonder for Disney and El Tigre for Nickelodeon.

Dates & Times:

5 Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm-9.30pm; 2nd April, 9th April, 16th April, 23rd April and 30th April.

Venue:

Cost:

Members: 100 Euro, Non Members: 125 Euro
