11.11.15 | Maya & Python Technical Directors (5 Wednesday Evenings)

Course Content:

Technical Directors (TDs) fill an important role in CG production as they are responsible for delivering practical solutions to the problems that arise during production. We will be looking at using python in maya which are widely embraced by TDs throughout the industry. Indeed for any CG artist, learning how to script is among the most valuable skills you can pick up to help you in your day to day job, and in your career. The course will also examine some helpful maths that is common in computer graphics. You will see how even a basic understanding can make many unfamiliar terms you may have already come across just click!

Participant Profile:

Participants should have a reasonable knowledge of Maya, but there is no requirement of previous programming or maths experience.

Tutor Info:

Luke Harris has worked as a Pipeline Technical Director in Framestore, Sony Imageworks and currently Brown Bag Films where he supports the CG teams and develops tools for maya and overseas collaboration. He feels lucky to have gained some appreciation of the challenges that film VFX, animated features, and episodic production throw up, and the different ways problems can be approached. He has helped develop tools that have been used on such shows as Harry Potter, Arthur Christmas, Spiderman 4 and Peter Rabbit.
