Course Content: 

This course will look at the importance of gesture drawing for animation and show you how to capture the essence of the pose to create expressive drawings for Character Design, Storyboarding and Animation. Each class will explore different graphic principles including lines of action, rhythm, and exaggeration, shapes and the flexibility of the pose.

Participant profile: 

This course is aimed at those interested in pursuing an animation career, students and professionals who are seeking to further develop their drawing skills. Participants should have previous life drawing experience.

Tutor info: 

Niall Laverty has been teaching gesture drawing to animation and illustration students and professionals for over 15 years. He is a part-time lecturer at IADT and guest lecturer at Gobelins and The Animation Workshop, and has taught at the award-winning animation studios, Boulder Media, Brown Bag Films, and Kavaleer Productions. 5 Thursday evenings from 6.30pm-9.30pm; November 14th, 21st, 28th and December 5th and 12th.
