20.04.17 | 1 Day Concept Art Masterclass (From Sketch to Concept to Greenlight) with Simon Rodgers (Credits: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Croods, Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls)

Course Content:

This masterclass will focus on the development of early concept art and story moments used to greenlight projects or sequences into the production.

The class is aimed at those who wish to expand their skills in the areas of visual development and concept art. While features will be the primary area of discussion, television production will also be explored in relation to early development and the skills explored can cross over. Although various software will be discussed the class will be demo-based rather than hands- on and will focus more on the approach to producing artwork rather than how to use software.

This course will cover the following:

  • Conversational sketches versus details.
  • Early rough set development in 3D and the path to movie moments.
  • Dynamic composition in relation to shot development.
  • Sequential set piece exploration and how it can save time (and money).
  • Combining basic down and dirty ZBrush techniques with any 3D package.
  • Quick lighting and mood with basic color exploration.
