Animation Skillnet and Animation Ireland are delighted to welcome Leanne Preston, Head of Production at Citizen Skull and former CEO at Unanico Group for this series of 1-hour webinars, presented as part of the ReBound Initiative.

In this five session webinar series, Leanne Preston, an experienced industry creative and business executive based in Los Angeles, will walk us through some of the key areas to focus on and things to consider when developing, pitching and producing original IP as well as the dos and don’ts to help you succeed. Each session will be approximately one hour long and will focus on the following:

Session 1 – 04.12.2020: Tailoring your pitch

Session 2 – Wed Jan 27th: Preparing for Markets

Session 3 – Wed Feb 3rd: Developing original IP for international and US buyers

Session 4 – Wed Feb 10th: Co-Production

Session 5 – Wed Feb 17th: Q&A or topic of choosing by the participants

About the Tutor

Leanne Preston is the former Producer, CEO of Unanico Group, based in Los Angeles where she has been leading all creative development, production and business efforts for the company. She has fifteen years’ experience working in the kids and family entertainment business. Starting out her career at Nickelodeon, Leanne worked in the London office on the development and production of global original content, including BAFTA nominated series House of Anubis, before transitioning to the independent producer side, as Head of Development for Red Kite. There she oversaw shows such as ‘Ella Bella Bingo’, sold to 25+ countries and the DreamWorks Classics property ‘George of the Jungle’ for Teletoon in Canada, sold to 125+ countries worldwide. Leanne later founded Bright Box Creative and worked with Chinese broadcasters Toonmax Media and CCTV to develop content for Chinese and international audiences as well as working with producer clients across the globe. Also a writer and story editor, Leanne developed, story edited and wrote scripts for international preschool show Emmy & GooRoo, distributed by Jetpack. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2015 Leanne has worked with Citizen Skull Productions, Gaumont as Director of Animation Development and as Associate Producer on the new Lego City Adventures series for Nickelodeon. Prior to Unanico, Leanne was VP Production for Indian studio Digitoonz, building on their North American and European business and as Director of Content and Business Development for Left Pocket Studio in Shanghai.

Participant profile

This course is open to professionals and freelancers in the Animation, Games and VFX industry with a current, valid address in the Republic of Ireland.

Additional hardware requirements for the course: Courses will be taking place using the Zoom App. Participants will need to have a good internet connection and a device with Audio, Webcam and Microphone for live chat sessions and feedback.

Cost

There is no cost to the participants but places are limited and registration is essential.
