IP Development for Animation – Masterclass Series

Animation Skillnet is delighted to be partnering with Screen Skills Ireland and Animation Ireland to bring you the IP Development for Animation Masterclass Series. The online masterclass series will support a small group of professional content creators through the initial phases of development all the way up to prepping for markets.  The sessions will be provided by several industry expert tutors, who will deliver a session each over a two month period. At the end of the course attendees will be given the opportunity to apply for further one to one mentoring, kindly supported by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

BIFF! BANG! POW! – It’s All About the Idea

20th May from 6.30 – 8.30pm

Greg McLeod, one half of award winning animation duo The Brothers McLeod gives some insight into ideas, how to have them, and what to do with them when you do. How to know which ideas go where. Throw away ideas or ideas with scope and longevity.

Developing your idea into a Pitch

27th May from 6.30 – 8.30pm

With years of experience nurturing bright ideas to fully-fledged kids shows, experts from multi-BAFTA award-winning studio Blue Zoo’s development team will explain how to develop your initial spark of an idea into a fully fleshed pitch that can get your show idea to greenlight

Music IP and the delivery requirements for large studios

22nd June & 24th June 6.30 – 7.30pm

Catherine Keane is the Legal and Business Affairs Manager to the five times Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominated animation studio Cartoon Saloon. Catherine will outline how legal Music delivery for a Feature Film or TV Series can be a long and complicated process especially when delivering to a large streaming service. Catherine will highlight some of the considerations that must be given to the music IP once the project is greenlit or even before. 

Bringing IP to Markets

29th of June from 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Leanne Preston is an experienced Creative Executive, having worked in the kids and family and animation industry for over 15 years in development and production. Leanne has worked for companies across the globe on their original content and has held roles for companies such as Nickelodeon, Gaumont, Red Kite Animation, Axis Animation, Left Pocket Studio, Digitoonz and most recently, as Producer and CEO of UK based Unanico Group. Leanne is currently an independent producer, working with several clients to develop and produce their IP and as a writer and story editor.  Leanne’s session will cover key things to consider when taking your IP to markets including: preparing your pitch materials, practicing your pitch, tips to secure meetings and how to follow up.

Participant Profile:

Independent content creators, creative exec managing teams that are developing IP or for a creator looking to structure their ideas for presentation. Please note that there will only be 12 places available so the application process will be competitive.
