03.06.2021 | Building a Submission-Ready Storyboard Portfolio (5 Thursday evenings)

Animation Skillnet and Screen Skills Ireland are delighted to welcome back Kayvon Darabi-Fard for this 5 week course, which will help those interested in building a Storyboard/ Story Driven Portfolio to use as the basis for applying to Animation Studios/ Storyboard Roles. This programme is supported under the Skills Connect Programme.

Course content:

In this course, Kayvon will be sharing some tips and tricks in putting together a Storyboard Artist Portfolio, touching on a few subjects and sharing advice in building and keeping a portfolio online and offline. Providing guidance in the process of applying, undertaking story tests, communication and working on/ receiving constructive feedback:

Areas that will be touched on are:

  • Portfolio Preparation and Planning and gearing towards studios
  • Portfolio Content, Working in different Story Departments, Working from Scripts. log lines and post-it notes (and Exercises)
  • Studio Portfolio Guidelines – You, Intellectual Property and Fan Art
  • Extensions of a Portfolio – Archiving and Marketing New and Old Portfolio Material
  • Social Media, Art Posting, Online Presence and Networking
  • Interviews, Portfolio Reviews, Story Tests and Growth via feedback
  • Portfolio Presentation and Delivery Tips

About the tutor

Kayvon is a Senior Story Artist with many experiences in Theatrical, 2D/ 3D, Stop Motion animation production and Video Games. Kayvon has been living and working in Ireland since 2016 and is also currently a Toon Boom Ambassador, as part of the Toon Boom Ambassador 2021 program.

Participant profile:

Recent graduates who wish to gain advice in starting applying for roles, in addition to freelancers or artists who want to broaden their horizons on portfolio building in order to further their content/ development of personal and professional portfolio materials.

System requirements needed for the course

Courses will be taking place using the Zoom or Google Hangouts App (TBC). Participants will need to have a good internet connection and a device with Audio, Webcam and Microphone for live chat sessions and feedback.

Dates & Times

This course will take place from 7pm to 9pm on the following dates: 

Thursday 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th of June and Thursday July 8th

*** Please note that there is a gap of 2 weeks between the 4th and 5th class to allow participants to prepare work for final review.***

Cost:

There is no fee for this course but please note that there are only 12 places available.
